Dorian Cat was inspired by Chus Alonso’s cat, Rayo. He used to wake the family up in the middle of the night, walking on the piano keyboard. All notes in this piece are diatonic to the mode of B Dorian, with the only exception of the final chord. Articulations, dynamics and use of the pedal are important aspects when interpreting this piece.
